FRESNO COUNTY, California - The man killed in a Fresno County crash Wednesday night has been identified.
The accident was near Highway 41 and American Avenue.
Sgt. David Salcido of the California Highway Patrol said two vehicles were involved, a blue Lincoln pickup truck and red Mercury Cougar.
Salcido said the pickup was proceeding through the intersection at normal speed and had a green light and the right of way.
According to witnesses, the Cougar was driving west on American and ran a red light, striking the truck.
The driver of the Cougar, identified as Edwin Romero, 28, of Fresno, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.
The Lincoln was carrying two passengers, an unidentified male who suffered major injuries, and a 15-year old passenger who suffered moderate to major injuries.
Both vehicles came to rest in a nearby orchard after they each struck a PG&E pole.
