KINGS COUNTY, Calif. - A man is back behind bars after Kings County Sheriff's Deputies say he escaped a treatment program, and stabbed a man in the head several times.
The attack happened around 10 a.m. in the 14000 block of Hanford-Armona Road in Armona.
Deputies said Raul Gonzalez, 31, had just been released from state prison and was walking through people's backyards.
Deputies said an elderly man confronted Gonzalez, and Gonzalez then pulled out a 10 inch kitchen knife, forced the man back into the home and held his family at knife-point.
A woman was able to escape and flagged down a sheriff's deputy. Deputies tazed Gonzalez but it had little effect. They say Gonzalez tried to grab one of the deputies' guns, punched, and headbutted them. Deputies received minor injuries.
Gonzalez was eventually taken into custody, accused of attempted homicide, kidnapping and assault on a peace officer.
