Madera Police officer stars in Alan Autry's new movie

MADERA, Calif. - A local officer is taking on a new role, from fighting crime on the streets to fighting in the boxing ring.

However, it's all on the big screen. Madera Police officer Brett Prieto, teamed up with former Fresno Mayor and Hollywood actor, Alan Autry.

The movie is called, "Victory by Submission", a faith-based movie that Autry says is not the typical inspirational film. He said it's filled with grittiness and action.

"Blood, sweat and tears went into this thing," said Officer Brett Prieto, Madera Police Department.

Prieto said he's fulfilling a life-long dream.

"I really enjoy acting and now that's its all kind of come to fruition, it's fun where you say see I could do it," said Prieto.

Prieto was cast as "Tommy Hendricks" in Alan Autry's new inspirational film, "Victory by Submission".

"He came in and read the first two lines and I knew I had my guy," said Alan Autry, director, Victory by Submission.

Autry said the faith-based movie is about redemption and relationships. He said it touches on real life struggles, from PTSD to alcoholism.

"It's set in the world of mixed martial arts which has a term victory by submission, knock somebody out you can make them submit, but in the faith based world it has a totally different meaning, it's submission but it's submitting away from yourself and submitting to God," said Autry.

Autry said the movie took nearly three years to make, filming throughout Fresno, Clovis and Madera. Autry said the movie created dozens of local jobs and he wasn't the only big Hollywood star on the roster.

"Lee majors, Eric Roberts, Fred Williamson, Rachel Hendrix is in the film," said Autry.

Prieto said the grueling schedule was hard at times but Prieto said he made time for family and continued working as a police officer.

Prieto said he's thankful to his brothers in blue for letting him shine.

"I couldn't have done it without them, I couldn't have," said Prieto.

The movie is being released in churches across the Valley, for now.
