Hostage standoff ends peacfully

An overnight SWAT standoff ended early Tuesday morning after the suspect passed out on drugs.
The SWAT Team was called out to an apartment complex near Belmont and San Pablo in Fresno following a domestic violence call.

The armed suspect, identified as 31-year-old Benny Mendoza, took his girlfriend hostage along with another woman and two children.

Mendoza would not surrender and held the hostages all night long but police got word he was passed out on drugs early Tuesday morning and arrested him without incident.

The suspect will be charged with several felonies to include assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
