Fresno voters deciding on trash privatization

Voters in Fresno are deciding on whether or not to privatize residential trash collection.

A special election is taking place Tuesday in the City of Fresno as voters deciding whether to privatize residential trash pickup. 

The polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and stay open until 8:00 p.m.

Supporters like Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Police Chief Jerry Dyer say it will lower bills and protect jobs, but labor union oppose the move. 

The county office says they had received more than 30,000 absentee ballots as of Monday.
