Carstens Fire in Mariposa County

A wildfire has charred more than 1,000 acres in Mariposa, and has forced the evacuations of hundreds of homes.
A wildfire has forced evacuations in Mariposa County. The Carstens fire broke out Sunday afternoon near Highway 140 and Carstens road. 500 homes have been evacuated so far, and at least 1,000 acres have been charred. There is an evacuation center set up at Mariposa Elementary school for those who have been forced from their homes. Families with pets can bring their animals to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, where volunteers are caring for livestock and pets.
