It took the life of 21-year-old Annais Rittenberg of New York, a UC Santa Cruz student who would've been a senior this year.
A young camp counselor was killed by a massive oak tree Wednesday morning.

The tree fell near a dining hall at Camp Tawonga, which is in a remote area of Tuolumne County, outside of Yosemite National Park.

It took the life of 21-year-old Annais Rittenberg of New York, a UC Santa Cruz student who would've been a senior this year.

She was part of a Jewish summer camp program.

Twenty other campers were hurt and are recovering at area hospitals.

A camp spokesman says the campers were having breakfast at the dining hall, and children were not injured.

The camp has about 150 staff members and 250 campers.
