Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer Will Not Run For Mayor

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer made news on Thursday October 11th by announcing he would not run for Mayor of Fresno.

Dyer said God never gave him the passion and vision to become mayor, but the drive is there for the position of Police Chief. Dyer has been with the Fresno Police Department nearly 30 years and spent six of them as Police Chief. Dyer wants to see his department move in a positive direction.

Dyer did say he was not ruling out the thought of ever becoming Mayor. Just not for the 2009 term.

Dyer is set to become President of the California Police Chief's Association in March. Becoming Mayor would jeopardize taking that position.
