Lee Brand announces transition team

Brand says the diverse team represents Fresno.

Fresno's Mayor-elect Lee Brand announced his transition team Wednesday morning.

Brand says his team is a wide cross-section of community leaders.

"I want to be a mayor of change," says Lee Brand.

Lee Brand won a majority of Fresno's votes in November.

"I am here to introduce some key announcements of my transition team," he says.

Wednesday the mayor elect gathered at the leadership training institute with his hand picked team of 18.

"What was really good for me was getting people with a diverse set of life experiences, positions and how it all blended together nicely."

Brand says this group is diverse which he says represents the City of Fresno.

"From clergy, to business, labor, public safety, a lot of different areas are covered, we picked this team on the diversity they bring and represent this community."

The team already got to work, their first meeting together was before the press conference Wednesday.

H Spees, who was one of brand's opponent's during the primary was named Director of Strategic Initiatives, he says they got started on a number of topics.

"We held the meeting together around 11 key initiatives, those include public safety, homelessness, to neighborhood revitalization, economic development, educational excellence," says H Spees.

Spees says they looked at what is working for the city and how to maintenance it and looked at what needs to be changed.

Tim Oram, the Chief of Staff, says this group will help with that.

"It is important the team, the transition team in particular, reflects the diversity of Fresno that we bring in all those different view points, all those experiences and backgrounds to understand the problem and how to better solve it," says Tim Oram.
