A close look shows bullet holes in the fence surrounding a patio at Hunter Place in northwest Fresno.  Police say two men, 20 to 30 years old, were shot here.  They ran through the courtyard before their wounds tired them out.

“One person sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head or neck area.  The second was shot in the lower leg,” said Sgt. Mike Smith of the Fresno Police Dept.
Carol Holley says the victims are her neighbors and this is the third shooting at her apartment complex this month.

“I've got to go.  I've been thinking of moving anyway.  It's too much,” said Carol Holley, a resident.

Officers detained two young man on Griffith Avenue.  Surveillance cameras captured an SUV, which is believed to belong to other outstanding suspects.

“That is a white Nissan Armada.  It's got larger rims,” said Sgt. Smith.

A few hours earlier, police responded to a dispute between rival gangs in the southeast part of the city off Church Avenue.  A drive-by shooting ended with a three year old boy being struck in the leg.

“There's just no regard for safety and welfare.  These guys just don't care,” said Sgt. Smith.
Police say a 20-year old man was shot in the chest at this same home on Tuesday.

“Family does bear some responsibility here just by their activity and associations,” said Sgt. Smith.
Police are now stepping up efforts citywide, intervening to try and stop this violence.

“We'll move to move these people out of this neighborhood if that's what it takes because there are people here who don't deserve this in this area,” said

It's unknown if these cases are connected.  Witnesses say a white, 4-door car is tied to the shooting of that little boy.  Anyone with information should call Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
