It's the end of an era for thrill riders.
Colossus, the big white wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, is shutting down for good.
The coaster will close forever in eight days after causing screams for over 30 years..
When colossus first opened in the summer of 1978, it was the fastest and tallest wooden roller coaster in the world.
About a half a dozen riders have been on a 36 hour colossus marathon, as the coaster prepares to shut down.
        It ended last night.
One of the riders was a Bakersfield teen.
Its 100 foot drops and wooden tracks may no longer be the biggest thrill, but it still ranks high in nostalgia.
Magic Mountain will reveal its replacement August 28th.
