Bass Lake, CA. – Already the site for the popular Annual Bass Lake Classic Triathlon, Bass Lake will be playing host to a second multi-sport event, this one targeting youth.
The 2nd Annual My Tri Mountain Area Youth Triathlon will take place on Sept. 6 at Miller’s Landing on Bass Lake’s south shore.
“We had more than 100 mountain area youth, as well as kids from outside the mountain communities in last year’s inaugural My Tri ,” said Michelle Miller with Miller’s Landing, “We are expecting this year to be an even bigger success.”
“We are very excited to help encourage kids to get out there and play every day. We feel that this triathlon is a great way to get kids into something healthy while having fun.”
The event has three race distances, the Dash Distance which includes a 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike ride and .5 mile run, the Sprint Distance with a 100 yard swim, 4 mile bike ride and 1 mile run, and the Ace Distance with the 200 yard swim, 8 mile bike ride, and 2 mile run.
The triathlon is open to all kids ages 5 through 17. Early Bird entry is $25 per participant and $20 for each additional sibling, if received prior to August 22nd. After the early bird deadline, entry fees go to $30 for the first entry and $25 per each sibling.
This event is sponsored by the Children’s Educational Foundation to promote healthy living for our mountain area youth. The proceeds from the My Tri will go to the North Fork School Athletics Department and the Art Enrichment Program.
“In last year’s race, the kids were so excited to look up from the dock as they prepared to begin the race and see hundreds of people lining the streets and shoreline cheering them on and holding signs for their favorite athlete. Whether they placed or not I think each child felt a sense of accomplishment and made a memory to look back on with pride,” said Miller.
