Fresno, Calif - As the internet continues to evolve, so do the dangers for kids and teens.
The Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force speaks with Eyewitness News about the dangers online as more social media sites and apps are available.
Fresno County Sheriff's officials explain the internet chat allows anonymity and predators are taking advantage. In some cases, children as young as eight are inappropriately chatting online, unknowingly to a predator. In other cases, teens are meeting in-person with someone they've met online leading to an increased number of sexual assault and rape cases in the county.
CBS47 has partnered with the Sheriff's Office, Fresno Unified and EECU to help provide resources for parents to help keep kids safe online. More information can be found here.
