In neighborhood rocked by killings, Tampa mayor goes trick or treating with neighborhood kids

TAMPA, Florida - With fears of a possible serial killer on the prowl, some residents in a Tampa, Florida neighborhood were nervous about going out for Halloween festivities.

But their fears were eased with the help of the mayor. Tonight, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Interim Police Chief Brian Dugan took to the streets to trick-or-treat with children and their families.

The Mayor and Chief walked with kids as they went door to door collecting candy. Chief Dugan warned people not to walk alone in the neighborhood after dark.

Many parents say being outside after dark seemed incredibly risky, since a mystery killer is still out on the streets.

Three people have been killed in recent, separate shootings in the southeast Seminole Heights area. No one has been arrested in connection to those shootings.

Officials say several officers were out patrolling the streets including mounted officers on horseback as well as troppers with the Flordia Highway Patrol.
