Fresno, Calif. - One person is dead after coming down with the flu in Fresno County.
According to the health department, this is the first deadly case in Fresno County this year.
"This tragic, untimely death reminds us that we all must take action to prevent infection with
influenza. Protect yourself. Protect your loved ones. Protect our community. Vaccinate," said Dr.
Ken Bird, Fresno County Health Officer.
Last week, two women died from the virus in Tulare County, according to the health department.
Joe Prado from the Fresno County Health Department, tells Eyewitness News this season is
consistent with previous years.
Prado says the flu vaccine can take about two weeks to fully protect you.
Health experts are urging everyone to get a flu shot.
A flu vaccine clinic is happening weekdays rom 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Fresno County Health
Department's downtown location at 1221 Fulton Street.
