FRESNO, Calif. - Family and friends of John Timothy Graves held a candlelight vigil to ease their pain of losing him. Around midnight Tuesday, police found Graves inside of his car shot multiple times. He died from his injuries at CRMC later that night.
Police discovered Graves near First and Clinton after a call came in that a man was injured inside of a car. At this time, investigators are still working off of very little information.
Sunday's vigil was at the Cultural Arts District Park downtown. Loved ones first used tea lights to spell the message, "RIP Timmy." Eventually, the family's pastor, Johnny Walker, lead the group in prayer.
Family and friends described Graces as a hard-working, family man. He had a girlfriend, with whom he had three children with.
Walker said the gathering is about love, but it's also to send a message to the city that too many innocent lives have been lost.
"We're here to ask the community to stop the violence," he said. "It's time to stop breaking the mother's heart, the father's heart and the children's heart."
