Homeless Man Reportedly Rips Off Fresno Fire Dept.

$8,000 In Stolen Equipment Recovered

A homeless gang member has been arrested by the Fresno Police Department after he was allegedly found in possession of $8,000 worth of equipment that had reportedly been stolen from Fire Department Headquarters in Downtown Fresno.

A Fresno Police Officer had been notified that multiple Fresno Fire Investigators trucks had been broken into in the early morning hours Tuesday.  The Officer was making a proactive patrol around the Headquarters at E Street and Vinegar Alley when he encountered a man later identified as Arthur Lee Howlin.

While interviewing Howlin the Officer reportedly observed emergency gear with the "FFD" or Fresno Fire Department emblem. Howlin  was allegedly wearing a Nebraska College sweatshirt that was taken from the fire truck and identified by fire personnel at the time he was taken into custody.

Howlin, described by investigators as a homeless gang, was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on possession of stolen property, and a warrant for theft.
