FRESNO, Calif. - KSEE 24 is proud to partner with Home of Hope. Wednesday Granville Homes held a ground breaking for the house that will be given away in 2016.
Every year Granville Homes builds a house to give raffle off. All of the money goes to non profit organizations in Fresno.
For the past ten years Home of Hope has raised more than $3.5 million for community organizations.
With hard hats on and shovels in hand, several non profit organization representatives broke ground for Home of Hope.
"To raise 500 thousand dollars for ten outstanding non profit organizations that provide food, shelter, healthcare and education to the under priviledged in our community," Darius Assemi said.
Since 2006 Granville Homes has built a home each year to raffle off. As the exclusive media partner since 2009, KSEE 24 holds phone banks to help sell tickets and broadcasts the drawing live.
"Home of Hope really is one of those things that is a win win when it comes to using our money. You get a chance to not only invest in 10 local charities, you also get the chance to win a home or a 2 year lease on a brand new Lexus," Andy Souza said.
This year's house will be built in the Belterra community near Fowler and Shields. It will have three bedrooms, three bathrooms and will include water wise landscaping and eco-smart technology.
"What I love about the home of hope is that it does give all the money back to our community and I think that's a really important thing," Amy Tobin said.
The money raised will be unrestricted for the ten non profit organizations
"It goes to anything and everything within the organization; transportation, case management, feeding programs, rural services, every cent of every dollar goes to a need that we provide at the Poverello House," Cruz Avila said.
This year the goal is to sell 5,000 tickets to raise $500,000. A two year lease on a Lexus will also be raffled to anyone who buys two or more bundled tickets.
Tickets will go on sale in the next few weeks. The Home of Hope drawing will be held on July 27th.
