FRESNO, Calif. - A teacher assistant in Fresno Unified was arrested on charges of felony molestation of a 9-year-old girl, the Fresno Police Department said.
The Police Department received information on Thursday of a teacher assistant having an "inappropriate relationship" with the girl. The 21-year-old teacher assistant had been working in the position for two years when he met the child, police said.
Family members of the victim received information about the relationship and notified police.
The suspect was identified Andreas Perez-Esteban.
A Fresno Unified School District official said Perez-Esteban is not an employee of the district. He works for California Mini Corps which provides teacher aides to school districts.
During the interview, Perez-Esteban made incriminating states which eluded to the inappropriate relationship taking place, police said. Electronic devices were seized during the arrest.
Perez-Esteban was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of felony child molestation.
No other information was immediately available.
