Fresno Police investigate suspicious death in Southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Police are questioning two teenagers in connection to a suspicious death. A 17-year-old boy died inside a home near Iowa and Ninth in Southeast Fresno.

Fresno Police were called to the home on Iowa just before noon Thursday. A 16-year-old who lived at the home was in the front yard when he heard a gunshot. He ran into the home and found his friend had been shot. The witness said he saw a man jump the fence. That suspect was described as a Hispanic man, mid 20's, 5'08", and thin build.

The victim ended up dying inside the home. Police are now questioning the 16-year-old witness and another teen who showed up after the shooting.

Investigators are still trying to figure out if this was a murder or suicide. Police got a search warrant to check the house for a weapon.

"That's crazy because I'm not used to that," said one neighbor. "I've been here forever and it's so close to my house."

The victim's father said his son attended McLane High School, used to play football and was expecting a child with his girlfriend.

Anyone with information should call Fresno PD or Crimestoppers at 559-498-STOP
