Fresno man arrested on abuse charges after 6-month-old dies

FRESNO, California - A Fresno man was arrested when a 6-month-old died Friday after suffering severe trauma, the Fresno Police Department said.

On Wednesday around 2:20 p.m., officers responded to Community Regional Medical Center for the infant who was suffering body trauma.

EMS had responded to the infant's residence for a medical aid call for the infant being unresponsive.

The infant was provided CPR and first aid at the location by EMS and Fresno Fire Department personnel, and the infant was transported to the hospital in grave condition.

On Friday at 8:41 a.m., the infant died.

Homicide investigators obtained information that the victim was being watched by the mother’s boyfriend prior to the medical aid call.

Investigators have identified the boyfriend as Osvaldo Tejada, 20, who is not the biological father of the victim.

Investigators interviewed Tejada and arrested him on multiple counts of felony child abuse.
