Fresno man apprehended in vehicle theft, police chase

He was on the run for 2 weeks, authorities say

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. - A Fresno man was arrested two weeks after a police pursuit in Clovis involving a stolen SUV, said Fresno HEAT, a multi-agency, multi-jurisdiction vehicle theft taskforce in Fresno County.

Authorities said the suspect was driving a stolen Jeep Cherokee as officers gave chase. Eventually police stopped their pursuit because it may have risked public safety to continue.

The vehicle was later found abandoned and recovered, HEAT said.

Brian Llanes, 35, was identified as the suspect and had been on the run since the pursuit.

He was apprehended on May 19.

Llanes was on probation from a previous Fresno HEAT arrest and had an outstanding probation warrant.
