Fresno County sheriff's sergeant accepts plea deal in domestic battery case

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno County Sheriff's Sergeant Mark Eaton accepted a plea deal Tuesday morning in a domestic battery case.

The Fresno County District Attorney's Office dropped a misdemeanor domestic battery charge against Eaton, and instead, Eaton plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of annoying telephone calls/communication.

Eaton's lawyer, Sally Vecchiarelli said the annoying communication charge could be dropped next year as long as Eaton discontinues communication with his ex-girlfriend.

Eaton was arrested in December of 2015, after claims he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the face.

Eaton was honored with a medal for bravery during the 2010 Minkler shootout which killed Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy Joel Wahlenmaier, and Reedley Police Officer Javier Bejar.
