Fresno commemorates 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

Frenso, Calif - Fresno is commemorating the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

1.5 million Armenians were killed from 1915 to 1923 by the Ottoman Empire. Monday, crowds gathered at Fresno State, to never forget.

There is a commemoration in front of the Armenian Genocide Monument from noon to 1 p.m. 

Flowers will be laid at the monument at 6 p.m. Monday and a religious service will follow at 7 p.m.

Governor Brown issued a proclamation declaring April 24, "A Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide" in California.

Turkey and the U.S. have still not recognized the genocide.
