FRESNO, California - A chiropractor was arrested Wednesday morning after Fresno Police said he sexually assaulted two of his patients.
Dr. Arthur Hernandez was taken into custody, and only Eyewitness News cameras were there in northeast Fresno.
Hernandez is accused of sexually assaulting two patients.
One woman told police she felt Hernandez tried intimidating her because she is an undocumented immigrant, and that Hernandez even told her “It was his word against hers.”
Police said that it’s is a possibility that there are more victims. Fresno police walked him out of his northeast Fresno chiropractor office in handcuffs.
Detectives said two separate women came forward accusing Hernandez of sexual assault late last year.
Josh Gill works nearby.
“Shocked. You think you know … shocked – really just crazy. Right next door – to know something happened just a few feet away …” Gill said.
According to the arrest warrant, the first alleged victim is an undocumented immigrant. She claims Hernandez was professional at first, but by the fourth visit on Dec. 21, 2016 – things changed.
She says Hernandez told her to take off her clothes and then began rubbing her legs, and he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The second victim told police Hernandez fondled her during a visit late last year.
Gill says as a neighbor, he never noticed anything unusual.
“He got here in the morning – did his thing – stayed late sometimes, but you know, nothing more than any hard business owner would do. You know, nothing out of the blue,” Gill said.
The board of chiropractic examiners website shows Hernandez has a valid license with no prior disciplinary action.
The board issued this statement to Eyewitness News saying: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Consumer protection is our number one priority. We are looking into this matter.”
Eyewitness News tried reaching out to workers inside the business, but everyone had left. Hernandez shares an office with another chiropractor who had no comment.
