Crime Stoppers holds biggest fundraiser of the year

FRESNO, Calif. - Our partner, Crime Stoppers held its biggest fundraiser of the year Saturday. The event helps local law enforcement put criminals behind bars.

Fig Garden Golf Course turned into a beach party and it was all for a good cause. There was beach boys music, food, drinks and lots of fun. It's all to help Crime Stoppers raise money and thank sponsors.

"Without their sponsorships, we couldn't raise the money to pay out the tips for the rewards. So, this is really a party thanking our sponsors. We invite the public, they can come to it as well," said Susan Blaze with Valley Crime Stoppers.

Organizers said about 1,600 people normally attend the event. They had a silent auction, and armored police vehicles on display.

CBS47 Eyewitness News General Manager, and Crime Stoppers Board Member, Matt Rosenfeld said helping the non-profit is a win-win.

"When you have partners like law enforcement, and you know you're doing something really good every single day, and we're helping to get criminals off the street so they don't repeat those crimes, it's really a rewarding experience," said Rosenfeld.

Organizers said the fundraiser has been going on for 20 years.
