CHP: Driver slams car into tree near Golden State Blvd, two badly injured

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash, where a driver slammed into a tree.

Officials shut down northbound lanes of Golden State Boulevard at Clovis Avenue, between Clayton and Lincoln Avenues.

CHP said they responded to a 911 call, just after 8 p.m.

Officials said for unknown reasons the driver lost control of the vehicle, slammed into a tree and ended up in the middle of the intersection. 

CHP said three people were in the car. Authorities said two suffered major injuries and were transported to Community Medical Regional Center. 

CHP said they are not sure if other cars were involved.

Investigators are looking into what happened. CHP said it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor.
