Bill would make almonds California's official state nut

Valley lawmaker is author of legislation

Merced, Calif. - A San Joaquin Valley lawmaker is working to make the almond California's official state nut.

Assemblyman Adam Gray, (D) Merced, tells Eyewitness News This Morning, the bill is up for a vote on

wednesday at the captiol.

Almonds are a four billion dollar industry in California, covering 900,000 acres, 97,000 of those are in the Central

Valley.
