5 Fresno Sheriff's deputies rescued after falling into upper Kings River during training

All 5 deputies have been rescued and are safe, Sheriff's Office confirms

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. - A water rescue near Kirch Flat Campground -- east of Pine Flat Lake -- pulled five Fresno County Sheriff's deputies out of the upper Kings River after a training exercise accident, the Sheriff's Office said.

All five deputies have been rescued from the water and are safe, the Sheriff's Office confirmed just after 2 p.m.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. when a Sheriff raft overturned -- dumping the deputies into the cold, fast-moving river.
