HANFORD, Calif. - The coroner's office is notifying the family of a 25-year-old Selma woman who CHP officers said was killed by a suspected drunk driver going the wrong-way.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Highway 198 and 12th Avenue in Hanford.
CHP officers said Lucia Gomez, 22, was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 198 in her Hyundai Elantra.
Officers said she slammed into the victim's vehicle, a Toyota RAV4, killing the 25-year-old driver from Selma, and sending her passenger, a 28-year-old Selma resident, to the hospital.
The 28-year-old sustained minor injuries.
Gomez, who CHP officers said was under the influence, was badly hurt and taken to the hospital.
