16 City Vehicles Burglarized By Transient

Tonight Fresno Police Have Suspect In Custody

Fresno Police have arrested a transient they say burglarized over a dozen city vehicles, doing thousands of dollars worth of damage for little more than pocket change and a cell phone.

32-year old Cham Hernandez is now at the Fresno County Jail. Investigators say they've dealt with him before, and recognized him from surveillance video of the break-ins.

16 Code Enforcement vehicles were broken into early Wednesday morning on Tulare near "P" street in Downtown Fresno.

The suspect rummaged through the vehicles and stole various items. He told police he exchanged the stolen items for narcotics.
