HURON, Calif. - A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to the alleged murder of a 14-year-old boy in Huron.
Huron Police responded to a shots fired call in the 16000 block of West Tornado Avenue in Huron just before 10pm Friday. Officers found the 14-year-old boy who had been shot and killed.
"Heartbreaking, it hurts, just to know he was gunned down like that," said the victim's aunt, Diana Escalante. "He loved sports, basketball, football, loved hanging out with friends," she said.
Escalante said, "He was not a gang member, he was just at wrong place at the wrong time."
Huron Police asked the Fresno County Sheriff's Office take over the homicide investigation.
Sheriff's detectives identified the 13-year-old boy as the primary suspect and arrested him in the town of Huron.
Detectives are not releasing the suspect's name because he's a minor and say it's too early to tell if this is gang related.
