Shooting investigation in Fresno

One man was wounded in a shooting around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night in downtown Fresno.
A man is in the hospital after he was shot during some kind of disturbance.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night near Santa Clara and L Street in downtown Fresno.

Officers say the victim and his friend were standing outside their car when they were approached by a group of men.

The two groups got into an argument and that's when the suspect opened fire.

Officers have not ruled out robbery as a motive.

Lt. Joe Gomez with the Fresno Police Department said, "The victim and his friend don't speak English, so there's that possibility, but the subjects that approached them didn't take anything from them; they still have their wallets and everything else. So that's a possibility that it was robbery as a motive."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
