Police in San Bernardino County asked police to do a safety check on a woman in Fresno. She was found dead in her apartment.
Neighbors in the Northeast Fresno apartment complex were surprised to learn the woman was found dead inside her apartment.
Investigators spent the day at the Foxwood Apartments at Fresno Street and Herndon Avenue, where the victim and her husband lived.
Officers knocked on neighbors' doors early Monday morning, looking for anyone who may have heard something.
The victim's husband was found dead in Montclair, in San Bernardino County and investigators believe it may be a case of murder-suicide.
An officer with the Montclair Police Department said, "During our follow up efforts, a vehicle was found near the deceased. That vehicle was registered out of the City of Fresno. We contacted Fresno police Department and requested they conduct a safety check on the registered owner of that vehicle."
When police checked on the woman who owned the car, they discovered she was dead.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine how the woman died and when.
Homicide detectives and the coroner's office are working on the case.
No names have been released.
