As friends lit candles in memory of 32-year-old Eric Catlapp, across the street from his workplace.
Catlapp was stabbed to death there Friday morning.
“I had seem him the thursday night before, and i literally, we had a meeting at our work,” said Catlapp’s Coworker Johnny Pecina.
Catlapp was a filmmaker who worked long hours out of a 24-hour office building in the Tower District known as Hashtag.
“Just by seeing how he worked with others you could just tell he was a very polite, nice guy,” said Pecina.
The violin played in the background as more and more gathered... in their words, "tower strong."
“We're going to stand with the neighborhood. I think it’s terrific…coming to together, and having the solidarity. That's how you prevent crime,” said Ulysses Caiati who recently moved to the Tower District with his wife.
“I don't know if he was targeted or if it was random; I came to find out more, but mainly I came to support the area and the kids,” said Marvel Caiati.
They held a moment of silence, and prayed that police will find who did this.
“I live behind the same building where it happened but I still feel pretty safe here. I feel maybe it was a wrong time for him to be at,” said Abigail Janzen, also new to the area.
A friend made a montage of Catlapp's films...to capture his passion for life.
“He saw there was more to life and, you can't find that in a lot of people,” said Catlapp’s father.
