According to Fresno Unified, a total of eight students were pelted with little plastic BBs while participating in P.E. at Tioga Middle School.
Their physical injuries are minor, but mentally this provided a big shakeup.
13-year old, Angel Williams can't put weight on her left leg. The eighth grader has a throbbing pain due to being shot with plastic BBs.
“I got hit two times in the back of my calf after getting hit in my ankle, so I really couldn't run because it hurt,” said Angel Williams, shooting victim.
Angel's mother, Lareasa, pointed out some of her bruises.
“It was very upsetting when I saw her trying her best to walk to me,” said Lareasa Williams, the victim’s mother.
Monday morning, Angel and her classmates were running laps around the football field when several of them felt stinging sensations coming out of nowhere.
Angel says two teenage boys were firing the guns from the street, which is just a short distance away from the actual school.
“They were talking and laughing like it's just a thing to do,” said Angel.
In the game Airsoft, participants in protective gear use guns to shoot and eliminate each other. Although they are not real guns, they should be handled like it.
“If you’re playing Airsoft, that's the only time you should ever be pointing it or firing it,” said Daniel Farris of HobbyTown USA.
Back to Monday’s case, Fresno Police did catch the two high school aged kids. A probation officer was called in because at least one of the boys has a prior record.
Lareasa wants to see consequences for this violent behavior before it escalates.
“This time we were fortunate enough that it was pellets or BBs, but who is to say next time it won't be a real gun. Something needs to be done. They need to lock them up,” said Lareasa.
Lareasa is working to press charges against the two suspects. She encourages the parents of the other victims to join her in order to send a message to these boys.
