Question.png

Why haven't I heard about Venous Reflux Disease and what is it?

Answer.png

To understand Venous Reflux disease you have to understand healthy leg veins contain valves that open and close to assist the return of blood back to the heart. Venous reflux disease develops when the valves that keep blood flowing out of the legs and back to the heart become damaged or diseased. As a result, vein valves will not close properly leading to symptoms of pain, swollen limbs, leg heaviness and fatigue, varicose veins, skin changes, and ulcers.

Question.png

Why don't primary physicians/family doctors know about this treatment?

Answer.png

This condition and treatment is a specialized medical treatment that only doctors that are trained to do this know about the treatment.

Question.png

How would you treat patients differently from primary care physicians??

Answer.png

First of all we only specialize in feet and leg pain. Dr. Poirier MD. FACS is the only doctor that performs this treatment in Fresno and Medera. Every patient that walks in our office will be examined and diagnosed thoroughly in our office. We will be taking their shoes off and examining each individual in a specific case. We also do special diagnostic testing using ultrasound to identify exactly what the problem is.
