The days of cutting coupons may be over because smartphone apps make it easy and fun to shop for deals.
There are several apps like Ibotta, SnipSnap, Retail-Me-Not, Coupon Cabin to name just a few.
Bryan Leach, CEO of Ibotta said, "You can add credit to your account by watching videos, taking polls and so forth. Then you go purchase the products in the store. Take a picture of your receipt using your phone. Based on the information on the receipt, we immediately send you cash to your account."
Ibotta is different than the others because it rewards users with real money, and not points or credit. Since Ibotta's launch six months ago, they've credited users with more than one million dollars in earnings. That money can go into a PayPal account or directly donated to one of 130,000 schools or to the United Way.
