Marines and sailors stormed the beaches at Camp Pendleton as part of an amphibious assault exercise that goes on for 17 days.
Three ships and 2400 Marines and sailors started out at sea and came ashore at dawn.
Lt. Dana Mitchell said, "It's a traing exercise between the Navy and Marine Corp to strengthen the Navy and Marine Corp teams and hone in the skills on the individual Marines, small unit leaders, up to company size elements."
This exercise comes in advance of a deployment to the Western Pacific later this summer.
