Valley Cooling Centers

Communities around the Central Valley open 'Cooling Centers' to help people escape the high temperatures.
Public cooling centers open around the Valley when temperatures climb to dangerously unhealthy levels. Below are the normal locations but you should check before heading out to make sure the information is up to date.


When the National Weather Service forecasts a high of 105 degrees or higher, the City of Fresno opens it's cooling centers. The following locations are open noon to 8pm on those days:

Frank H. Ball Center, 760 Mayor. 
Ted C. Wills Center, 770 N. San Pablo
Mosqueda Center, 4670 E. Butler
Pinedale Community Center, 7170 N. San Pablo

Free Bus Service to Cooling Centers from 12 Noon to 10:00pm

Sierra Vista Mall Serves as Cooling Center During Extreme Heat

Free bottled water is available at Customer Service for those utilizing the mall as a Cooling Center. Transportation to and from the site will be provided free-of-charge by Clovis Transit. For transportation to the center, please call 324-2770.

The City of Madera will open cooling centers on an "as needed" basis at the following locations:
