A gritty documentary about firefighters is showing at the Tower Theatre Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
A gritty documentary about firefighters is showing at the Tower Theatre Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

The film 'Burn' follows the lives of Detroit firefighters for a year.

The independent film received an award from the Tribeca Film Festival.

The film's focus is on the increased demand on fire crews because of vacant and abandoned house fires.

Fresno firefighters deal with much of the same problems as those in Detroit because of under funding, staff shortages, large numbers of vacant homes and arson fires.

Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door, which helps pay for getting the film into more theaters. A portion also benefits the Denis Leary Firefighters Foundation to purchase gear for the firefighters..

Burn is showing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31st at the Tower Theatre in Fresno's Tower District.
