$10 swim lessons in Merced

The City of Merced is offering $10 water safety and swim lessons during the month of July.
The City of Merced is offering $10 water safety and swim lessons during the month of July. Morning lessons are being offered at McNamara Pool and afternoon/evening sessions are available at the Merced High School pool.

The reduced price swim lessons are made possible by a donation from the Swim 4 Jaylin Scholarship Fund through United Way of Merced County and also funding from First 5 of Merced County.

One set of lessons is being offered from July 8 through July 18 and the second set, July 22 through Aug. 1. 

Classes offered and suggested ages are: 
Parent & Me, ages 6 months to 3 years
Tiny Tots 1, ages 3-5 years
Tiny Tots 2, ages 4-6 years
Beginner Prep, ages 7-10 years
Stroke Technique, ages 8-12 years.

Lessons at McNamara pool, 1040 Canal St., will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lessons at the Merced High pool, 205 W. Olive Ave, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m.

Session I of swim lessons is currently under way at McNamara Pool. Those fees also will be reduced to $10. Parents who signed up swimmers for the first session also will be receiving a refund, thanks to the Swim 4 Jaylin donation and First 5 funding.
