Texas Tornado

A deadly tornado hit communities southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth area Wednesday evening.
A deadly tornado hit the communities of Granbury and Cleburne southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth area Wednesday evening.

Two people were reportedly killed during the twister and 17 injured.

According to news reports from Texas local authorities were still going door to door in neighborhoods that were struck by the tornado as of Wednesday night.

A strong area of cool low pressure sweeping across the plains pulled in warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and with the help of the Jet Stream caused explosive storm growth over northeastern Texas.

The picture below is a radar image taken from just around the time the tornado developed.  The pink spot to the southwest (lower left) of Fort Worth is an area of intense rain and hail and the tornado was likely southwest of that pink spot.
